Ukraine’s Prosecutor General, Iryna Venediktova, who confirmed this on Tuesday, said the soldier, Mikhail Romanov, was due to stand trial in a landmark since the war began on February 24.

A court on Friday refused to grant the bail application of a former governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha who was dramatically arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently.

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, declined to grant bail to Rochas Okorocha, the former governor of Imo State, pending the outcome of a lawsuit he filed against the federal government.

The former governor’s appeal to compel the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to release him on bail was denied by Justice Inyang Ekwo.

Justice Ekwo stated in a brief ruling on Okorocha’s bail application that he was not inclined to admit the petitioner to bail.

Rather, the judge ordered Okorocha to notify the Federal Government of his imprisonment and to appear in court to defend himself.

    https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3280487029440370

The former governor had submitted an ex-parte application, claiming that he was a presidential candidate and thus entitled to bail.

He informed the court that he was running for the governing All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential ticket and that his political ambitions would be jeopardised unless he was given bail.

On Tuesday, a team of EFCC officers invaded the former governor’s apartment in the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in order to arrest him.

The squad, which demanded that Okorocha present himself to arrest or honour a long-standing invitation to their office, later besieged the presidential candidate’s home.

They stated that no members of Okorocha’s family will be permitted to leave the premises until the former governor is produced.

The EFCC slammed Okorocha, who currently represents Imo West senatorial district, with a new set of allegations over N2.9 billion fraud on January 31.

It filed the allegations in an Abuja court about the same time that the legislator announced his ambition to run for president in 2023.

Okorocha was accused of scheming to steal from the public coffers with others, including an APC member and five companies, although he has subsequently denied any culpability.

He emphasised that this was not the first time the agency had taken such action against him, which he claimed was politically motivated.

A Zimbabwe-based digital identity Startup, FlexID, has announced securing an undisclosed funding from Silvio Micali’s Algorand Foundation

The undisclosed funding was on Friday confirmed by Victor Mapunga, serial technology entrepreneur and founder of FlexID in a press release on Algorand’s website.

FlexID Technologies, formerly known as FlexFinTx, runs as a platform and wallet for the issuance, storage, and sharing of verified digital identity credentials using Algorand blockchain.

The Singapore-based blockchain startup was founded in 2018 by Victor Mapunga.

Riasblogdaily gathered that Algorand Foundation is dedicated to helping fulfil the global promise of the Algorand blockchain- designed by MIT professor Silvio Micali.

Mapunga, in his remarks, explained the challenge of not having an ID in the new age.

He said: “Without an ID, education and healthcare become extremely difficult to access. On the other hand, the shambolic national records further increase the cost of doing business.

“With FlexID, even the informal sector can transition from an isolated view to a formalized economy. Farmers can easily access credit and inputs.

“There are people out there who watch football but lack financial services. What Algorand has done will allow even people in the most remote areas to transition using platforms like FlexID, and we are excited to be building in such a vibrant ecosystem.”

The software company was founded in 1998 by Diane Greene, Edouard Bugnion, Edward Wang, Mendel Rosenblum, and Scott Devine.

Speaking on the acquisition, Tan said:

“Building upon our proven track record of successful M&A, this transaction combines our leading semiconductor and infrastructure software businesses with an iconic pioneer and innovator in enterprise software as we reimagine what we can deliver to customers as a leading infrastructure technology company.

“We look forward to VMware’s talented team joining Broadcom, further cultivating a shared culture of innovation and driving even greater value for our combined stakeholders, including both sets of shareholders.”

    Trivia Answer: Raw File

A raw file is a collection of unprocessed data. This means the file has not been altered, compressed, or manipulated in any way by the computer.

Raw files are often used as data files by software programs that load and process the data. A popular type of raw file is “Camera RAW,” which is generated by a digital camera. Instead of processing the image captured by the camera, the data is left unprocessed and uncompressed until it is opened with a computer program.

The Manufacturing Association of Nigeria (MAN) has revealed that its members in the country spent a total of N71.22 billion on buying diesel for alternative power in 2021.

It noted that it’s members saved N10.69 billion on this cost compared to N81.91 billion expenditure in 2020.

President of MAN, Engr. Mansur Ahmed who disclosed this on Thursday in Lagos, however, noted that the cost of providing alternative power was still very high.

He said, “Our survey showed that the average daily supply of electricity has been stable at 11 hours and power outage, three times per day respectively, however, the N71.22 billion is on the high side.”

He also added that the billions spent on energy threw manufacturing cost structure overboard, eroded working capital and impacted on capacity utilisation.

“In summary, it caused the loss in production and ate into the bottom line,” he stated.

Furthermore, Ahmed in MAN’s review of the economy in 2021 noted that manufacturers’ huge expenditure on alternative energy source constitutes between 30 and 40 per cent of their cost structure.”

“Between July and December, 2021 in the sector, expenditure on alternative energy source dipped to N45.04 billion from N57.75 billion recorded in the corresponding half of 2020. The drop indicates N12.71 billion or 22.0 per cent decline over the period.

It is however an increase of N12.86 billion or 40 per cent over N32.18 billion of the preceding.”

Ahmed also stated that data collected in the survey of this report shows that electricity supply from the national grid showed increased improvement in the second half of 2021.

On the alternative energy source implications, the industrialist said, “Since the average Nigerian’s disposable income has been depleted, we can only expect that the resulting higher prices of goods will further constrain purchases and aggravate the poverty level.

Otedola becomes First Bank’s only above 5% shareholder, Hassan-Odukale drops outPublished 6 seconds ago on May 27, 2022By Riasblogdaily Lagos PDP denies giving automatic gov ticket to Otedola

First Bank of Nigeria Holdings (FBN) has clarified its 5% and above shareholders following the faceoff between Femi Otedola and Tunde Hassan-Odukale in the fourth quarter 2021.

Companies are mandated to list the names of shareholders who own 5% and above stake. Prior to Q4 last year, FBN had not listed any shareholder in that category until Otedola began acquiring shares in the firm in H2 of same year.

Riasblogdaily reported that First Bank later admitted in October that Hassan-Odukale holds 5.36% ownership of the firm, having added Leadway Pensure RSA Account shares, which he heads, to his stake.
    https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3280487029440370

While Otedola has amassed about 5.07% as of late October. The sudden 5.36% held by Hassan-Odukale threw confusion into the capital market, as FBN Holdings had not listed anyone in its 5% and above shareholders.

In an update in its 5% and above shareholders list, Ripples Nigeria gathered that Otedola now holds 7.56% ownership of First Bank of Nigeria, through 0.58% direct stake and 6.98% indirect stake.

Otedola now owns N29.21 billion worth of investment in First Bank, rising from the 210,000,000 direct shares, and 2,507,282,140 indirect shares held in the financial institution.

Meanwhile, Hassan-Odukale’s stake in First Bank was stepped down to 4.31%, excluding the shares of Leadway Pensure RSA Account, which is 1.01%. The separation of both parties’ shares occured following National Pension Commission (Pencom) directive that a Pension firm’s stake held in companies don’t belong to the director or owner of the Pension firm.

    https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3280487029440370

Hassan-Odukale’s now owns 27,530,930 direct shares, and 1,518,758,784 indirect shares in First Bank, which is worth N16.62 billion.

This settles the leadership tussle between Otedola and Hassan-Odukale, making the former the only shareholder with 5% and above stake in First Bank of Nigeria.

Sen. Bala Mohammed, Executive Governor of Bauchi State.

Facts have emerged that Senator Bala Mohammed’s underdog visage could be the undoing of his opponents, who have spread rumours that the Bauchi State governor is not serious over his presidential bid.

Speaking, former National Secretary of the Social Democratic Party, Dr. Sadiq Gombe, said because of Bala’s humility, opponents always make the mistake of underrating him.

Gombe, highly regarded for his strategic foresight and networking ability, observed that with 31 states and the FCT already covered by the Bala Mohammed presidential consultation council, the Bauchi State governor has endeared himself to delegates and party stakeholders across the country.

His incisive dissection of the country’s problems, his demonstrable understanding of global best practices, a clear strategic foresight particularly with respect to the provision of infrastructure and his candid espousal of the panacea to the country’s diversity challenges are said to have elicited spontaneous applause and support.

Gombe pointed out that while opponents mistook, as a sign of weakness, Bala Mohammed’s pledge that he would readily support any candidate should he lose, delegates and members of the public saw it as the patriotic behaviour of a loyal party man whose preoccupation is how to rescue Nigeria from the current logjam.

Fifteen aspirants are in the race for the ticket of the main opposition party. They include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; erstwhile Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and former President of the Senate, Anyim Pius Anyim; Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, and Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel.

Others are former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi (who is said to have resigned), ex-governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; media mogul, Dele Momodu; former banker and economist, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen; ex-president of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Sam Ohuabunwa; Charles Ugwu, Chikwendu Kalu and Tareila Diana.

Bala Mohammed’s chances appear to have been brightened by speculations that despite throwing the contest open the party’s leadership is tilted towards having a candidate from the North, particularly the North-East geopolitical zone, where Atiku, Governor Mohammed and Hayatu-Deen hail from. This position was informed by the priority the party accords to winning the election over zoning.

Governor Mohammed is said to have earned the confidence and support of many PDP delegates and stakeholders, on the basis of his education, as well as experience in both the legislative and executive arms of government.

Besides experience, acceptability is the most significant factor being considered by party stakeholders, who are insisting on Governor Mohammed’s candidacy.

  • RIASBLOG “ARSENAL’S REISS NELSON OPENS UP ON CONNECTION WITH FORMER GUNNERS STRIKER ROBIN VAN PERSIE”.

    https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3280487029440370

Arsenal has historically been unafraid to put faith in talented youngsters that show exceptional promise through their developmental period, and that trend has continued under current boss Mikel Arteta in the wake of Unai Emery’s tenure as both Spanish bosses sought to highlight the futures of the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe. But one player that has yet to truly get his chance in north London is Reiss Nelson.

Long considered to be one of the best talents to ever emerge from the Arsenal academy pipeline, Nelson struggled to make the same gains under both Emery and Arteta as his former England youth international counterparts Saka and Smith Rowe, which led some to believe that he could be permanently out the door in the near future.

Currently on loan with Dutch giants Feyenoord Rotterdam, Nelson has begun to find his way under manager Arne Slot in one of the historic hotbeds for player development in the world, and while in the port city, Nelson has linked up with former Arsenal star Robin van Persie in a bid to find any progress in his game that may have previously eluded him in the past.

When speaking with the Athletic and cited by the Mirror, Nelson opened up on his interactions with the former Netherlands star forward and the aid that RVP has given him during his stint in the Eredivisie.

“Yeah, I speak with him. Sometimes he comes over on a Wednesday, before Europa Conference League games on a Thursday. I ask him about what positions I need to be getting in. Certain movements I need to be doing, certain finishes.”

Nelson also reflected on his developmental stagnation at Arsenal after doing so well at youth level, and has looked in the mirror to find ways he could improve the way he approaches the current period of his progression on and off the pitch, which has born fruit for De club aan de Maas to the tune of a recent run of form both at home and abroad that has seen him bag 4-goals and add 7-assists in his last 11-appearances.

At the time of writing, Slot included Nelson in his starting XI as Feyenoord clashes with AS Roma in the final of the Europa Conference League, and the continued faith placed in him of late shows that he may finally have done enough to return to Arsenal and fight for his place in Arteta’s youth-based revolution.

That blocking really pained him he called 12 people in one hour just to tell them that Tonto blocked him. So since that day, he promised self to destroy Tonto by every way by, example, lie on Tonto that she’s a drug addict and she use to pee on the bed when she is drunk so that has won’t find a man to take her serious.
